From October '06 through March '07, I was fortunate enough to freelance at what is arguably the greatest news magazine in the world, Time. Working under Marti Golon, Art Director for Special Projects, I created layouts for weekly subscriber-only content, as well as projects with longer time lines, including the 2006 issues of The Best Inventions and Person of the Year. The 'reset button' of having new content every week, combined with the vast array of departments involved (writers, copy editors, illustrators, photo editors, production team) made my time at the magazine the surpass any learning experience I had in college. The greatest opportunity, however, was being part of the team that worked on the 2007 redesign of the magazine, led by Luke Hayman. Working in-house with team-mates from both Pentagram and the Time staff, I gained significant insight on the process of magazine design and all the perils that it entails.
